Zombie Carl is a rotting, dark, decaying, entity of living death, but he's a kind and loyal friend on the inside. Zombie Carl was a normal human being until he was turned into a zombie by the Crown of Nightmares, similar to Paul Wisniewski turning into a yeti. Poor Carl now spends his undead days as a gatekeeper living in a swamp on Spookane, a butler at the Boudreaux Mansion, and a pilot for the Specter Squadron.

Sims 4 - Carl

Zombie Carl's trophy in The Sims 4.

  • In The Sims 3: Generations while telling a ghost story, a picture of Morcubus and/or Zombie Carl may appear over a Sim's head.
  • In The Sims 3 Store, there was an arcade cabinet item that featured Zombie Carl. Unfortunately, this item is no longer available in the store, but can still be downloaded[1]
  • Zombie Carl appears in The Sims 4 as a rare MySims trophy that can be collected by players. His description reads: "Poor Carl. Things have only gotten worse for him since he died. He spends a lot of his time wondering what he's actually accomplished and basically having an after-life crisis."

Trivia[]

Development[]

  • In MySims SkyHeroes, Carl has an eyepatch, possibly meaning Chesby may have poked Carl's eye out when he put him in his head.
  • In MySims Kingdom, Carl has no curls in his hair, but in MySims Agents he has curls in his hair.
    • Carl's hair is also shorter in his MySims Agents concept art.

Dispatch Missions[]

  • If the player sends Carl on Makoto's first dispatch mission, High School Yearbook, he will say zombies and teenagers not getting along is a myth, and that zombies actually love teenagers, before accidentally saying "Especially their BRAINS!"
  • If the player sends Carl on Marlon's second dispatch mission, Magical Disaster, he will be annoyed at having to work with a wizard and comments that the last thing he needs is a wizard killing him with a healing spell.
    • This is a reference to the Final Fantasy series, where healing spells and items damage undead-type enemies.
  • If the player sends Carl on Walker's fifth dispatch mission, One More Time, he will admit that everything he sees there makes being dead not seem so bad anymore.

Inconsistencies[]

  • In MySims Kingdom, Carl sometimes pulls out the gate key, nervously looks around, then puts it away, even after he gives it to the Royal Wandolier.
  • The conditions of Carl's death vary from game to game.
    • In MySims Kingdom, it appears he has been dead for hundreds of years and spent most of his life and death in Spookane's swamp.

((In MySims Agents, it is said he's been a butler for around 87 years, but was alive for most of it, which means he must have been a zombie for only 12-16 years since the Crown of Nightmares incident.

References[]

  • Carl's job as butler at the Boudreaux Mansion may be a reference to real world voodoo practices. In real life, zombies are actually people who have been exposed to a poisonous concoction (containing, among other ingredients, poisonous blowfish) that leaves them in a brainwashed state; once put into this trance, the zombie is used to perform common chores.
    • This make sense, give the fact that Madame Zoe is the mansion heiress, who is a fortune teller with an obvious voodoo theme.
  • In Carl's butler attire, he bears a resemblance to the character Riff Raff from The Rocky Horror Show.
  • In both the MySims Kingdom credits and The Sims 3: Generations, Zombie Carl can be seen doing a dance similar to the one from the music video for "Thriller" by Micheal Jackson.

Statistics[]

Other[]

  • At the Boudreaux Mansion graveyard, there is a grave belonging to "Carl Weatherby, greatest golf caddy". This may be a relative of Carl as both share the same name and both are servants of the Boudreaux family. "Weatherby" may even be Zombie Carl's last name, so it is also possible this was Carl's grave before he was resurrected.
  • According to Carl's MySims Agents concept art, he apparently uses some type of dead bird as a feather duster.
    • This could be a joke relating to him being a zombie.
  • Carl can be compared to Violet Nightshade, as, in MySims Kingdom, he lives in Spookane while being a Cute Sim, and Violet lives in Cutopia while being a Spooky Sim.
    • However, in MySims Agents, they both make their debut at the Boudreaux Mansion, are both suspects for the first case there, and share their interests (3 Paranormal, 1 Nature, 1 Smarts).
