Chef Hisao Watanabe is a traditional Japanese sushi chef who loves fishing, studying culinary arts, and singing karaoke. He is also the father of Jimmy Watanabe and uncle of Sachiko Watanabe. Throughout the MySims series, Hisao serves as the owner of sushi establishments, a health & education advisor[1], a minigame host, and a client for the Sim Protection Agency.

MySims trading card[]

Hisao Watanabe is a man of great skill and focus. No cut is too precise, no dish too perfect. "Practice makes perfect!"

MySims Property Bible[]

This sushi master is known the world over for his dedication to turning raw fish, seaweed, and rice into edible art. Despite his success, his greatest desire is to see his son follow in his footsteps. Unfortunately, Jimmy is allergic to fish and deathly afraid of knives. Still, dad holds out hope that the kid will return one day to take his place at the master’s side.

"This hat is made from fifteen pounds of real tuna sashimi!"

Appearance[]

Chef Watanabe has tan skin, short black hair, a wide, slight smile, and black, scalene triangle-shaped eyebrows with two slits on the outer end of each brow. He has pink circular blush and wrinkles on his forehead, glabella, chin, and around his mouth and eyes. His eyes are small, upside-down black triangles. Because of his crow's feet, his eyes almost look like two fish facing each other. He wears a blue jinbei with a white trim and fish scale details, a white waist apron with a profile of a red pufferfish, a sushi and rice-shaped hat which he claims is made from 15 pounds of real sashimi with a black chin-strap, and geta sandals.

Trivia[]

  • In the MySims intro, Chef Watanabe's restaurant has a different door than the door given in the game.
    • He also has Chef Gino Delicioso's voice type, when he actually has Morcubus' voice in the actual game, as well as all the other games in which he appears.
  • In MySims, Chef Watanabe and his son wear the same outfit. they are the only Commercial and Townie Sim to wear the same exact outfit.
  • Chef Watanabe's sushi hat is made out of a real fish.
  • In MySims, Rosalyn P. Marshall refers to him as "Old Man Watanabe". This is a reference to his first name, Hisao, which is a common Japanese name meaning "long-lived man."
  • In his Promotional Trading Card, there is a typo in his naming, stating it as Hisao Wanatabe instead.
  • Although Chef Watanabe does not appear as a character in MySims Kingdom, he has a figurine, which can be obtained from fishing on Renée's Nature Preserve.
    • When Vic Vector is describing Watanabe's figurine, he states his first name is Hisao.
